Craig Shakespeare will have to wait in his bid to become the permanent Leicester City manager.

The caretaker boss met on Wednesday with vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin.

They are happy to leave Shakespeare in charge for Saturday’s visit from Hull City.

Another emphatic victory, like Monday night’s 3-1 humbling of Liverpool, will put Shakespeare into pole position to take charge for the rest of the season.

The Foxes hierarchy are still reviewing their options. But Leicester’s title-winning players, who complained about Ranieri’s tactical ‘Tinkering’ to their Thai owner, are lobbying for Shakespeare.

The trio all agreed he would continue and the coach is due to take the Foxes’ pre-match press conference on Friday.

But the club are also still assessing other choices for the long-term.

These include former England manager Roy Hodgson and ex-Chelsea and Holland coach Guus Hiddink, who has hinted that he is open to replacing Ranieri at the King Power.

"I think Leicester have done very well by going with the assistant manager after Ranieri’s dismissal," the Dutchman told De Telegraaf.

"They proved themselves against Liverpool. I have no had contact with Leicester.

"I have so much love for football that I do not exclude it. I never go to a club for several years, but I think it’s great to be working with young people."
