Manchester United enter the Carabao Cup in the second round after not qualifying for European football marking their first time at this stage since their infamous 4-0 loss against MK Dons in 2014

The Carabao Cup second round draw is complete and Manchester United face a trip to Grimsby on their first entry at this stage in 11 years. The six-time winners join 10 fellow Premier League sides in the tournament.

That's because the Red Devils are not one of the nine top-flight teams who've qualified for Europe this season. The last time that United played in the second round was in 2014, as League One MK Dons pulled off a famous 4-0 win against Louis van Gaal's side.

Grimsby will be the latest club to stage their own giant-killing against United, and we've already had some in the first round. Doncaster Rovers humiliated Championship outfit Middlesbrough 4-0 in their own backyard while Bromley beat Ipswich Town on penalties.

That was one of five penalty shootouts on Tuesday, as 29 teams booked their place in the draw. A further five will go through tonight, with only Tranmere Rovers' clash with Burton Albion - postponed due to a power cut - left to be played.

Take a look how the draw unfolded below.

18:17 - Last year's winners...

By Scott Trotter

It's not been plain-sailing for Newcastle since their success earlier this year. Their star striker now wants to join the team they beat in the final. But Alexander Isak is yet to win his move to Liverpool as the drama overshadow's the Magpies summer.

The Geordies wouldn't change a thing about that day in March though. Their Champions League qualification from later in the season means they are not involved this evening however.
