Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes brought his typical furious main character energy to the Old Trafford pitch on Monday night as his team threw away two points against Bournemouth

Bruno Fernandes was absolutely fuming with Manchester United’s wide-open defence after they surrendered three leads to draw against Bournemouth. An end-to-end match finished 4-4 at Old Trafford on Monday night, much to the frustration of the United captain.
Amad Diallo, Casemiro, Fernandes and Matheus Cunha all found the back of Bournemouth’s net, but their impressive attack only yielded one point. Antoine Semenyo, Evanilson, Marcus Tavernier and Junior Krupi all breached United’s leaky defence to score past Senne Lammens.
Luke Shaw was robbed of possession for Bournemouth’s first goal, the second came after United surrendered possession from a throw-in, the third from a free-kick conceded by Casemiro on the edge of the box and the fourth after the defence was carved open once again. Lammens then had to be alert to save from David Brooks as the away side nearly clinched it late on.
The situation prompted an all-too-familiar reaction from Fernandes, whose passion was on show. After curling a stunning free-kick into the top corner from the edge of the box to make it 3-3, Fernandes waved his arms to the crowd, encouraging them to make noise.

After Casemiro brought down Tavernier to end a dangerous Bournemouth counter-attack and earn himself a yellow card, responsibility fell on Fernandes to organise his team.
A clip of Fernandes gesturing to Lammens to move across the goal before Tavernier’s free-kick has gone viral on social media. In it, Michael Owen explains what Fernandes is trying to say to his goalkeeper.
Owen said on Premier League Productions: “Look at Bruno there telling his goalkeeper: ‘Get across, get across! We’ve already got this side of the goal locked off – this is the side of the goal you need to protect’.” Lammens hesitated and Tavernier’s strike flew in between the gap between Fernandes and Cunha and into the bottom corner.
After the final whistle, Fernandes hadn’t cooled off. He was filmed from the stands looking dejected in the centre circle as players went around clapping the Old Trafford supporters. The Portuguese playmaker spoke to Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro and appeared to be remonstrating about the problems in the United side by waving his arms and shrugging his shoulders.
United fans on Reddit, where the clip was posted, have speculated that Fernandes was angrily trying to demonstrate the wide-open gaps in the team’s defence. “Clearly gesturing why the CB gaps are so wide. Such a shame because we were so fluid in attack,” one fan wrote.
Another wrote: “If you watch the game back they weren't even wide, it's just each centre back had no idea where they were supposed to be running when going back or which player they should follows. ESPECIALLY obvious on their 4th goal.”
Ruben Amorim hinted at something similar in his post-match analysis. “It does seem [like] a lot of good things, but a lot of things to work [on]. We are not winning games sometimes in the details,” he said.
“It's not about because it's a back four, back three, back five. It’s the details that we need to work [on to] understand the momentum of the game. You need to be more clinical, because, again, today it’s against a very good team. We created so many chances to win the game, we should have won the three points.”
