Nani makes 'happy' Marcus Rashford claim that will raise eyebrows at Man Utd - The Mirror

Marcus Rashford has been in sensational form since leaving Manchester United to join Barcelona, initially on loan, with Nani saying he's 'happy' to see him thriving

Manchester United legend Nani has revealed his delight at watching Marcus Rashford flourish - even though it's happening away from Old Trafford at Barcelona.

After a troubled period under Ruben Amorim before departing the Red Devils, Rashford has been brilliant on loan at the Catalan giants - enjoying a complete change of scenery. The 28-year-old has netted five goals and provided seven assists across 13 outings in all competitions so far.

While making an instant impact, Rashford has, previously, suffered poor patches of form and became embroiled in disciplinary woes at United even before Amorim's arrival at the club. The manager ultimately decided he needed to move him on this summer.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have endured another testing start to this season, despite their recent upturn in form. Nani's joy at witnessing Rashford's revival since departing United might well surprise some, though.

Obviously, United would have much rather witnessed him recapture his finest form at M16 instead of excelling at a European competitor. Nevertheless, Nani confessed he's happy to witness the England player returning to his peak.

"Marcus Rashford entertained Man Utd fans for many years and he's a great player - scoring beautiful goals at Old Trafford," he told Covers.com. "I don't know what happened with him at the club and, unfortunately, he's no longer part of the team.

"However, we're always happy for those who start at our club, to see them shining all over the world, especially if he's playing for Barcelona. It's a big club with a lot of talent and, if he stands up there, shows his quality and scores goals, we'll always be happy."

However, Amorim will also be aware that it's in United's best interests for Rashford to maintain his best form and deliver top-notch performances in La Liga. Barcelona are tipped to make his move permanent - if he maintains his impressive form this season.

Rashford has a £30m buy option in his contract. Barcelona, though, might aim to negotiate a slightly lower price.
