BURY legend Chris Lucketti wants to be the club’s new manager – and hopes he is in line to make a dramatic return.

Centre-half Lucketti (above) was in the Shakers side that battled into the second tier a decade ago and has gone into coaching since leaving Gigg Lane.

Lucketti is currently working for Preston North End as youth-team coach, but is emerging as a leading candidate to replace Alan Knill, whose move to Scunthorpe was revealed by People Sport last week.

However, Bury may look within for Knill’s successor, with senior player Efe Sodje in the frame. Otherwise they could send out an SOS to out-of-work Iain Dowie or former boss Stan Ternent.
