Conor Benn has ramped up the trash talk ahead of his blockbuster showdown with long-time rival Chris Eubank Jr.

The pair and their promoters, Eddie Hearn and Ben Shalom were recently in attendance at the Ring Magazine awards and talks between the two camps reached a successful stage. After discussions reached a promising stage, the pair are set to go glove-to-glove in a middleweight dust-up on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Both fighters have agreed to a rehydration clause of 170lbs after the fight weigh-ins - which means Eubank Jr will likely have a sizeable advantage over his bitter foe. With just a few months ago until the pair do battle, the two boxing stars will almost certainly continue their ongoing feud on social media.

In a recent interview on the Ariel Helwani and Ade Oladipo boxing show, Benn was asked to compare the build-up to their originally scheduled bout in 2022 to the lead-up to April's showdown. "For me, this is way more personal," he said. "It was commercial before, I mean it's a massive commercial fight, but it's way more personal. I don't think I've ever felt hatred towards an opponent before. I don't think I've ever wanted to spitefully knock someone out before. I know people beg to differ with my fight style, but the reality is, I've been through a lot.

"I was going through a lot at the time and for him to just carry on the way he did, I took it personally, and I still take it very personally. To be on the brink of suicide to coming through, to have him coming out with the remarks he was coming out with... which were lies!"

This time around, their animosity is a little more intense, with Benn going on to send a chilling warning to his upcoming foe. "All of it was lies and I take that very personally," he continued. "For me, I'm still here standing and breathing and feeling stronger than ever. So, without a doubt, I'm coming for his head."

Benn, 28, has recently been cleared to reapply for his British Boxing Board of Control licence after a National Anti-Doping Panel judged that UK Anti-Doping must lift his temporary suspension as they were not "comfortably satisfied" a doping offence had been committed. The British star was under investigation after two adverse analytical findings in VADA tests for the prohibited substance clomiphene, a fertility drug which has performance-enhancing benefits. His second test was revealed just days before he was due to face Eubank Jr back in October 2022.

Recently, Eubank Jr hit out at Benn and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, labelling them 'rats' for "trying to enforce a re-hydration restriction on me to make the fight". Benn was quick to respond, saying: "10lbs re-hydration because I'm already fighting a middleweight but you want to get in the ring at as a light-heavyweight? Making excuses already for when I staple you to the floor."

In a recent interview with The Sun, Chris Eubank Sr had a glimmer of hope that the fight would never take place and was quick to reference their 2022 planned clash, saying: β€œMy son, if he had taken that fight where they tried to boil him down to 157, would have lost his life.” Chris lost his son Sebastian in 2023 at the age of 29 after suffering heart attack, and is now praying that he doesn't lose another child. β€œI lost Sebastian," he continued. β€œWhat do I say about losing another one? Nothing, I just pray.”
