A man has been shot dead in Sydney's west with two people arrested after a police chase.

A man has died after a brazen daylight shooting in Sydney's west, with two suspects now in custody after a dramatic police chase.

Emergency services rushed to Carinya Street in Blacktown at around 11.50am on Friday (November 28) following reports of gunfire. Officers discovered a man suffering gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and leg.

Despite desperate efforts by NSW Ambulance paramedics to save him, the victim tragically died at the scene.

As medical teams worked to help the injured man, police spotted a Mazda utility fleeing the area. Officers gave chase, but the vehicle failed to stop and eventually crashed on Kildare Road.

Two occupants jumped from the car and attempted to escape on foot, but were quickly apprehended by police and taken to Blacktown Police Station for questioning, reports the Daily Star.

A crime scene has been established as detectives investigate the fatal shooting.

A New South Wales Police spokesperson confirmed: "A man has died in a public place shooting in Sydney's west. About 11.50am today (Friday 28 November 2025), police were called to Carinya Street, Blacktown, following reports of a public place shooting.

"Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command attended and found a man with gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and leg. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but he died at the scene.

"At the same time, police attempted to stop a Mazda utility that was seen leaving the scene. When the vehicle did not stop, a pursuit was initiated.

"The pursuit was terminated a short time later when the vehicle crashed on Kildare Road. Two occupants ran from the scene and were arrested a short time later.

"They have both been taken to Blacktown Police Station. Police have established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
