Sheep dyed orange to deter rustlers

FARMER John Heard was sick of his sheep being rustled – so he dyed them bright orange.

Mr Heard coloured his flock of 250 blackfaced ewes after losing 200 sheep to livestock thieves over the past few years.

The 48-year-old, of Okehampton, Devon, said: “My son James suggested the orange dye. It produces some strange-looking sheep but it’s totally harmless and it seems to have done the trick – I haven’t lost one this year.”
