As per the demonstration, warming up the garlic makes it much easier to peel. Explaining the instructions - and the benefits of using the trick - the video's host revealed: "One of my least favourite things to do in the kitchen is peel garlic. It gets all over your fingers, it's sticky, and it just takes too long.

"A great hack is to microwave the whole head - or you can do individual cloves - for about twenty seconds."

"Watch how easily it peels", she added as she showed off the results. "It is so clean. I just love this. I think it is genius, perfect for when you need sliced garlic or whole cloves."

Delighted by the advice, commenters were thankful for the demonstration. "I was today years old when I learned this," read one reply.

"OK this is actually genius. Nothing worse than garlic getting stuck under your nails," said another. A third wrote: "Lol, literally an hour after I peeled garlic," and someone commented: "Wish I saw this the other day."

Meanwhile, someone advised: "Put it in some warm water for 5 minutes. It's easy peel." But another person thought: "You could just give it a light rap with the heel of your hand and the side of your knife as chefs have been doing forever...don't overthink it!"
