A "beautiful" 23-year-old woman died after being attacked by three pit bulls she had been pet-sitting.
β
Madison Hull was looking after the animals in her hometown of Tyler, Texas, when they turned on her and fatally mauled her. A neighbour who heard the noise called 911, and when emergency services responded to the home they saw a female lying in the backyard.
β
When officials went to approach the woman, the dogs charged at an officer, Sergeant Larry Christian told the Daily Mail. The officer was able to shoot and kill one of the dogs, Christian confirmed, which caused the other two to retreat into the property.
β
Investigators assigned to the case are working with the Smith County District Attorney's Office to determine if the dogs' owners, who were reportedly out of town at the time, will face charges, Christian said.
Following Madison's death, a GoFundMe was set up to cover her funeral costs. Her mum, Jennifer Hubbell, wrote on the page that she was "shattered" by the news, saying: "My beautiful, full of love, full of life, free-spirited daughter was killed in a sudden and vicious dog attack.
β
"Madi was love, she was light, she was kindness, she was laughter, she was fierce in the most beautiful and disarming way. She loved life with her whole heart and moved through the world with a free-spirit that lifted those around her."
Madison was just six months away from earning her degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Texas at Tyler, and had "already found her true purpose in teaching young children".
Jennifer added of her daughter: "Her K-3rd grade students adored her. She had a gift for making every child feel safe, special, and loved. Madisonβs heart was made for that work."
Jennifer said her daughter had been familiar with the dogs and had been around them for a few weeks. She wrote on Facebook that one of the dogs was "very aggressive and temperamental".
Her post continued: "The dogs attacked her and severed her brachial artery, under her arm, she was likely gone very quickly and all I can hope is that she did not know she was dying."
