A horror New York City shooting has left three people dead and eight injured after "multiple gunmen" opened fire in a restaurant.

Police and ambulances rushed to the Taste of the City Lounge at around 3.30am in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn on Sunday morning. The victims were identified as three men, aged 27, 35, and one whose age is unknown while the other eight casualties were rushed to local hospitals.

No arrests were made with the suspects reportedly on the run the the major US city.

Several people were gunned down by a crazed gunman in a Manhattan skyscrapper in July. The gunman was later identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura.

Mayor Eric Adams said: "Early this morning, I was briefed on the shooting that happened overnight at a Brooklyn lounge that already took the lives of three people and left others wounded.

"Our NYPD officers are working hard to find the people responsible and quickly bring them into custody.

"We will not tolerate this senseless gun violence in any corner of our city. My prayers are with the all the victims and their families.

15:13 - Child opened fire in Times Square days earlier

This Brooklyn shooting comes just days after a child left three people in hospital after a shocking shooting in Times Square.

A 17-year-old was arrested in New York's world famous square on August 9 after the teen opened fire at around 1.20am EST (6.20am BST). An 18-year-old woman and two men, aged 19 and 65, were injured in the horror incident.

The teenage shooter - who has not been identified because of his age - was taken into custody, with officers having recovered a firearm from the scene, the NYPD said

Cops confirmed the three people killed in the fatal shooting were pronounced dead at the scene.

Although police arrived to the restaurant just minites after the shooting, they could not save the victims.

Eight others were rushed to hospital with what the NYPD described as non-life-threatening injuries.
