Uninsured 'drink driver with toddler in car' smashes into stopped traffic in BMW - The Mirror

An uninsured motorist 'three times the drink driving limit' crashed her BMW into a queue of stationary cars while driving with a child in the vehicle.

The crash happened just before 8pm last night in Basildon, Essex, and resulted in one man having to be treated for his injuries.

A BMW, Mazda, Vauxhall, Audi and a Hyundai were all involved in crash which was believed to have been caused by the suspected drink driver.

The 34-year-old woman was arrested by police on suspicion of drink-driving and driving without insurance.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: "A woman has been arrested after a collision on Cranes Farm Road yesterday evening

"We were called shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, December 11 to reports that five cars - a BMW, Mazda, Vauxhall, Audi and a Hyundai - had been involved in the incident.

"The driver of the Audi, a man in his 30s, was treated for injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.

"A local 34-year-old woman, the driver of the BMW, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and driving without insurance.

"She remains in custody for questioning."

Local Response Officer Si Bailley slammed the motorist on his personal Twitter account.

He said: "Disgusted by the female driver of the blue BMW X3... failed to notice stationary traffic in #Basildon , causing damage to two other vehicles.

"Turns out she wasn’t insured, blew nearly THREE TIMES the drink drive limit AND had a young toddler in the car with her."

Cranes Farm Road is one of the busier roads in Basildon, notable for housing Festival Leisure Park, as well as a number of retail and industrial parks.
