Norma, 86, was shaken up while her dog, Dave, was said to be "extremely lucky to survive". Dave was being walked by Norma's dog walker, Ken, on November 7 when the incident occurred.

Ken, who was also bitten, said the three Rottweilers were off the lead and 'unmuzzled' during the alleged attack in Colinton Mains Park, Edinburgh Live reported.

Norma's granddaughter Whitney said: "My nana absolutely adores Dave. I've been having to look after him since the attack as it's been too distressing for her. She has been lost without Dave.

"Dave was being walked on his lead by his dog walker Ken in Colinton Mains Park and was attacked out of nowhere by three unleashed and unmuzzled Rottweilers. It was completely unprovoked, and Dave suffered extreme injuries. Ken was also bitten." Photographs show Dave shaved, with scars on his body.

Police confirmed they had received reports of a dog and a man being attacked by three dogs. Officers confirmed the dog was left with serious injuries and was treated by a vet.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.45pm on Friday, 7 November, 2025, we received a report of a man and a dog being injured by three other dogs in the Colinton Mains Park area of Edinburgh.

"The dog was treated by a vet for serious injuries. No one was taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing."

Meanwhile, Whitney said she was concerned for the safety of local children, older people, and dogs. She said: "This incident took place in an open playing field that is bound by a primary school, play areas for young children as well as being in close proximity to sheltered housing.

"It is also well used by dog owners and walkers, there are a number of vulnerable people at risk. People in the area are extremely worried,

"Clearly no lesson has been learnt and no action has been taken. While it is not the dogs fault, there is a concern for safety in the community. I don’t want anyone else to go through something similar or worse."
