Man sexually assaulted by another man at bus stop as probe launched

Police have launched an urgent investigation after a man was reportedly sexually assaulted by another man at a bus stop.

Officers received a report that a man in his 30s was approached from behind by another man he did not know. It is claimed he then touched the victim before running off.

The man, who is described as white and was wearing a blue top, grey joggers, black and white trainers and a black cap, is then reported to have groped the victim's bottom before walking past him and making a comment. He then left the area on foot. The incident is alleged to have happened on Monday, October 13 at 4.15pm.

Northumbria Police said the victim was left feeling distressed by the incident.

Officers say they have carried out a number of lines of enquiry into the report since it was made.
