16:58 - Wrapping up..

By Tom Canning

I hope you've had a good Monday!

It's been a wet one that is for sure. But nothing a new TUMELLA Strongest Windproof Travel Umbrella couldn't solve.

Deal of the Day?: Marks and Spencer shoppers race to buy 'figure-flattering' £18 winter top for £2

Former England Manager Steve McClaren looks dejected under his umbrella.

15:59 - Weather resistant: 'Tested at 70mph' are the sort of words you want to see when browsing brollies

By Tom Canning

Needed this, this morning.

Tested at 70mph, the TUMELLA Strongest Windproof Travel Umbrella is currently available for £17.99 on Amazon, discounted from £29.99, saving shoppers a handy 40%.

How does it do it? The umbrella has a waterproof coating and a vented double canopy that allows wind to pass through, so that it can withstand the harshest weather, the brand says. It has also been tested in Eindhoven University's wind tunnel at 70+mph, according to the site.

Given I'm not sure it's going to get drier, TUMELLA Strongest Windproof Travel Umbrella might be a good place to start looking for your 2025 winter brolly.

15:00 - Stay warm: 16% off rechargeable hand warmers

By Tom Canning

The BOSONER Electric Hand Warmers Rechargeable are down to £15.99 from £18.99 on Amazon, saving customers 16%.

The picture to go with them shows people up a mountain, but I reckon they'll be equally as useful in much colder places like Reading Station.

Rachael Davis writes: "The hand warmers are made of 'pure imported aluminium and imported flame retardant ABS', which is said to ensure the quality and safety of the hand warmer is high. They can provide up to 8.5 to 20 hours of continous heating, the brand says, so whether shoppers are out for a walk, camping, hiking or golfing, hands can be warm at all times."

If handwarmers is something you are looking out for, Boots also has the Red5 Rechargeable Hand Warmer and Power Bank available for £12.50 or you could try the HotRox Double Sided Electronic Hand Warmer with Power Bank from Lakeland.

14:37 - Gift ideas via the Amazon store

By Tom Canning

Time to take a little mosey over to the Amazon Gift Ideas tab.

All the stats I've seen show a lot of us are buying groceries from the retail giant, either for convenience or because one of you forgot to check out on the home delivery app (it's me, it's always me).

I wasn't sure Gift Ideas and groceries would go together, but what do I know. The top three in stock right now items (and therefore gift ideas) are:

13:56 - Gift ideas: The best advent calendars for teens

The shopping team here have been busy scouring the High Street to share some of the best buys and great gift ideas for teenagers this Christmas.

LEGO advent calendars are priced at £29.99, but they can be snapped up for less with TopCashback. (

As regular readers of the blog will know, advent calendars are no longer just about little chocolates. There's a whole range of premium options out there from LEGO to video games, beauty brands like LUSH and Nivea.

Actually it can be a bit overwhelming.

Thankfully it's Jessica Brunt to the rescue with 15 of the very best calendars for teens here.

12:06 - Money saver: The TV that rivals Sky is just £99 in special offer

No aerial required. The Bush smart TV comes from Freely and is on special offer priced at £99 at Argos.

It's an affordable way to get access to Freely, in HD quality - along with other top streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.

Freely, in case you were unaware, is a new service that lets TV fans stream content over the internet without the need for an aerial. That means there's a huge advantage with this type of TV - you only need a plug and some Wi-Fi and you can watch UK broadcast TV anywhere in the home.

Freely pulls together BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5 to give access to those services over the internet, rivalling the service that you get from Sky Stream - which also works without an aerial, but costs from £15 a month.

The 24 inch TV screen is ideal for students as they head back to University (

This Bush model is only 24-inches, so it's a little smaller, but that's ideal for a kitchen worktop, guest bedroom or perhaps a student dorm room

If the Bush is smaller than buyers want, then there's good news: Argos sells a 32-inch version for £119 which is still a great price. If shoppers want to go larger still, then there's a 50-inch Bush TV for £229 on Argos, which also runs on TiVo, offers the convenient Freely connection, but offers 4K HDR - including Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for a better picture and sound.

11:20 - Payday treat: Price drop on Nintendo Switch 2

It's only a small drop, but it's better than nothing. Amazon has knocked £20 off the RRP of Nintendo's newest machine, selling the Nintendo Switch 2 for only £409.

There are some great games including new release Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as well as Donkey Kong Bananza and updates to both Zelda games, plus more in the pipeline like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

With Christmas on the horizon, the console is expected to be a popular buy, with many shoppers looking for deals especially around Black Friday sale season. The Switch isn't the only device we expect to be popular, as rival sales show. Currys has a very small price drop on the PS5 Pro for £689.

Mirror Gaming editor Nathan Bliss reviewed the Switch 2 console earlier this year, calling it an 'essential purchase' considering its performance potential and what it could deliver in future, not just with Nintendo titles, but third-party ones.

10:48 - Payday treat: MacBook Air deal drops price to 72p a day

By Tom Canning

Apple fans rejoice - new tech means reductions and offers on older models and Sky have a great way of spreading the cost of an M4 MacBook Air - ideal if you are looking to upgrade this payday.

Sky's deal on the older models can be paid monthly at £22 a month with a £2 upfront cost for the 13-inch MacBook.

The M4 MacBook Air has up to 18 hours of battery life and built-in Apple Intelligence to help users accomplish tasks effortlessly.

Sky aren't the only ones with savings on laptops though. If you fancy an epic gaming laptop you can snap up the HP Omen laptop with an RTX 5050 for £1,381 from Amazon.

And Currys have a brilliant deal on the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge for £599, thanks to a £200 price drop.

10:44 - Boots: "The best value Christmas gifting event in the UK"

By Tom Canning

"For many of us, the start of the festive season doesn’t officially begin until Boots launches its famous three-for-two Christmas gift offer, " writes Bethan Shufflebotham.

"As someone who spent four years working for the retailer (and loved nothing more than the day festive stock was delivered), plus three years as a shopping journalist, I can say with certainty that this is one of the best value Christmas gifting events in the UK."

So a cost effective and convenient way to tick off a few Christmas gifts. But where to start? Thankfully Bethan is way ahead of you and done a fair bit of research here.

10:04 - Payday treat: The fitness watch that's cheaper than Fitbit

I mention there would be a few payday treats flagged up, so consider this idea one.

With the weather turning and the nights drawing in, I'm going to need all the encouragement I can muster to keep my running going.

I find new kit always helps get one foot out the door, so take a look at the Huawei Band 9 Smart Watch which keeps track of your steps, sleep, workouts and other body metrics, while the battery lasts for 5 days.

It's compatible with both iPhone and Android, so users aren't limited by their phone type. Best of all, it's priced at £29.99 at Argos, making it significantly cheaper than competitors like the Fitbit Inspire 3.

One genuinely enthusiastic Argos customer said: "When I tell you I only have to charge this watch every 5 or so days, it is amazing for battery life."

09:30 - Energy saver: This non-electric dehumidifier is earning rave reviews

By Tom Canning

Ugh. Mould. It's a nightmare to deal with, and with us all trying to keep our homes warm and dry this autumn it's an issue we need to take seriously.

Dehumidifiers are one way of dealing with the issue, we have a main powered one here, but there's a range of non-electric dehumidifiers currently earning rave reviews on Amazon.

The ANSIO Dehumidifier 500ml, which has over 47,000 Amazon reviews, is £19.95 for a pack of 20, and it is discounted in packs of five (priced at £7.75 down from £9.47) and 10 (£10.95 from £12.95), with offers for other packs too.

Homeowners are praising this dehumidifier for battling mould without having to use electricity. (

Eleanor Fleming on the Mirror writes: "The non-electric dehumidifiers work through layers of hydrophilic (water dissolving) crystals and a 500ml collection tank, allowing it to absorb three times its own weight in water, the brand says. Being 15cm across and 10.3cm high, its low profile lets buyers easily move the dehumidifier to wherever it is needed."

One impressed reviewer said: "Have been using these types of dehumidifiers for some years in various locations in my motorhome. Moisture removal is good and effective and when they are "life expired" the liquid can go down the drain and the rest in the bin.”

09:17 - Big saving: The alarm clock that helps beat the dark mornings

"The sunrise light is a warm, soft light and makes waking up on dark winter mornings a more pleasurable experience.," wrote one reviewer about the Lumie Sunrise Alarm Clock.

The very good news, sleep fans, is that Amazon has the clock listed with 36% off it's normal price of £49.99.

Shoppers can set a smooth sunrise to start half an hour before the morning alarm time. (

Image:

Amazon)

Kerri-Ann Roper in the Mirror writes: "With many clever features, the Lumie alarm clock can be set to simulate the sun rising, starting 30 minutes before the alarm sounds to waken the user naturally. This can also be set to mimic the sun setting at bedtime, with the light taking 30 minutes to gradually dim to darkness."

There's some science behind it as well. Lumie is a British company founded in Cambridge in 1991. The company has spent more than 30 years researching how to help people reconnect with their natural rhythms for better sleep, mood and energy levels. The company says they invented the first wake-up light in 1992.

By simulating a sunrise, the alarm clock offers a more natural way to wake up, which can help to combat SAD and winter blues as well as improve sleep, the brand says.

It's certainly worth a try at 36% off!

Indulgence: OK! Beauty Box launches four festive crackers

I mentioned in the intro we'd be looking at a payday treat or two. What better way to start than a little indulgence.

Bethan Shufflebotham writes: "Christmas crackers have traditionally been filled with gimmicks, inexpensive toys and cheesy jokes, but recent years have seen a rise in more exciting beauty offerings - because if you can’t indulge at Christmas, when can you? New for 2025, OK! Beauty Box has launched not one, but four festive crackers for every beauty fan.

"Designed for makeup lovers, skincare obsessives and self-care enthusiasts, each of the four themed crackers is filled with premium products, delivering huge savings. And for a limited time, shoppers can get them cheaper."

Find out more - including what's inside each cracker - here.
