A food and travel expert has revealed his verdict after sampling what he believes is the cheapest full English breakfast in the UK. Rhys Strougler took to TikTok after spending just £1 on his morning meal at a restaurant inside an IKEA store.
The Scandinavian furniture giant is known particularly for its Swedish meatballs dish, which customers can snap up while shopping in every IKEA branch, but now a breakfast has been added to the menu. Rhys headed to his local store in Croydon, excited by the prospect of the breakfast bargain. On arrival, he made his way straight to the touchscreen ordering system, where indeed a 'small cooked breakfast' could be bagged for a quid.
"Oh my God it is true," he declared, before revealing "everyone else must have had the same idea" having spotted how long the queues were in the restaurant.
Rhys continued: "A lady was just saying she had to wait 35 minutes in the queue, so hopefully we're not going to be waiting for that long!"
After braving the queue, he made his wait to the dining area where he showcased his plate containing bacon, a sausage, beans, a hash brown, a tomato and an omelette.
Beginning with the hash brown, Rhys revealed: "Not bad, it tastes like the ones you cook at home in the oven." Meanwhile the sausage provided a similar verdict, as he continued: "That's not bad at all, I'm pleasantly surprised... that's a good sausage guys."
As for the bacon, Rhys admitted: "It's a little bit dry, it's probably been sat there for a little while because they cook it in batches. But you know, this is a quid."
Moving on to the omelette, he said: "Nothing to shout home about... it's maybe lacking a little bit of sauce."
As for the overall verdict: "It's similar to the sort of breakfast you would cook at home, but obviously this is a lot cheaper," Rhys summarised. "One pound for a full English breakfast in this climate... I'll freaking take it!"
Writing in response, one TikTok user expressed surprise: "Didn’t think anything cost £1 in the UK anymore."
A second person quipped: "Great business technique, go for the £1 breakfast end up paying loads for a wardrobe."
While a third shared: "Great value. No one should complain about it in this economy."
Then a fourth TikTok user said: "You cant even get anything in the pound shop for £1 again in South London, so it's definitely a good deal!"
Cleverly marketed as the "Full Swedish", IKEA said online: "Get a £1 small cooked breakfast every Saturday from 13 September to 20 December 2025. Vegetarian option available. Served until 11am at the Swedish Restaurant (or Swedish Deli at IKEA Brighton and Hammersmith."
