The fast food giant says some customers have regularly opted from foods off the 'secret menu' and is now launching it for others to try

Many people have their fast-food go tos and McDonald's customers are no different. Whether it is a Big Mac, Fillet-o-Fish or McFlurry, they are all popular choices for diners.
But while most of the menu items are well known, the chain has now shared that there is a "secret menu" which some customers have been enjoying for years. And rather than keep the meals hidden behind closed doors it is now adding them to its main menu - but for a limited time only.
The firm says: "For years, McDonald’s fans have been quietly customising orders and sharing off-menu favourites. This January, McDonald’s is bringing those ideas into the open.
"The brand is making the unofficial official with the launch of a new Secret Menu, inspired by fan hacks and well-known twists. From the Surf N’ Turf and the Chicken Cheeseburger to the Apple Pie Mini McFlurry, these are the creations customers have been ordering for years now officially recognised nationwide."
Ben Fox, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s UK & Ireland, said: "We’re really happy to now make The Secret Menu official in the UK&I, turning fan-favourite hacks into reality. Some of these mash ups shouldn’t work, but they are weirdly good and need to be tried to be believed.
"Others are more natural combinations that are simply delicious! This limited-time lineup celebrates the creativity of our customers that we see every day on social media."
So from Monday, January 5, people will be able to dig in to some twists on their usual options. And they cover all bases, from the Big Mac to the Milkshake there are new versions to try.
Beef and fish
Fans of the Cheeseburger and the Filet-O-Fish® can try a two-in-one as McDonald’s breaks new ground in the UK&I as it serves up a "surprisingly tasty new combo with fish meeting beef in one delicious duo".
The Surf N’ Turf consists of two 100% British & Irish beef patties layered with cheese, onions, pickles, mustard, and a dollop of tomato ketchup - paired with a MSC certified crispy white Alaskan Pollock fish filet patty.
Chicken and beef
The firm labels this as the "ultimate McDonald’s mash-up" as it "brings two iconic flavours into one burger". The Chicken Cheeseburger sees a 100% British & Irish beef patty join a crispy coated chicken patty, with a slice of cheese, onions, mustard, and a dollop of tomato ketchup. It adds: "Don’t knock it until you try it!"
Old favourite
This is not the first time McDonald's has shared some secret menu items and they say one previous favourite is back "by popular demand". The Chicken Big Mac® includes two chicken patties, a slice of cheese, lettuce, pickles, and of course the unbeatable Big Mac sauce., all in a toasted bun.

You can now get the rich and creamy Big Mac® Sauce as a dip. The chain says this will be perfect for Fries or McNuggets®
A bit of DIY
According to McDonald's this one is a "secretly iconic drink" as it introduces the new Espresso Milkshake. It adds: "This DIY-style option consists of two products handed to you separately: a thick vanilla milkshake and a shot of rich espresso, served side by side, allowing you to pour, mix and enjoy your own creation."
And for dessert
The final Secret Menu item is hailed as "a match made in dessert heaven" by the firm. The Apple Pie Mini McFlurry® is a combination of two separate items, served individually. Soft dairy ice cream swirled with caramel sauce, is paired with the iconic warm Apple Pie, ready for dipping.
