Avocados have become a go-to fruit for many, and it's easy to see why. Whether smashed on toast or blended into guacamole, they're incredibly versatile while also being a great addition to your diet.

Loaded with healthy fats, fibre, potassium, minerals, and vitamins K, C, E, and B, avocados offer a long list of different health perks, from lowering bad cholesterol and boosting digestion to supporting eye, skin, and brain health. They can even help regulate blood sugar levels. However, anyone who's ever bought an avocado knows the struggle of removing the stubborn skin and sizeable stone in the centre, which can make preparation a hassle. However, one man now thinks he's find a solution to this.

Sidney Raz is an American content creator known for putting viral cooking and life hacks to the test. In a recent video, he stumbled upon a simple method for removing an avocado stone without reaching for a knife, and the results were baffling.

"Here's something I wish I knew before I was in my thirties," Sidney said at the beginning of his TikTok video, before revealing the game-changing trick he'd come across.

In the next clip, Australian cooking influencer Nat, who goes by 'Nat's What I Reckon' online, was shown reading a comment suggesting you can pop out an avocado pip by simply pressing on the back of the fruit. Clearly sceptical, Nat was then seen clutching half an avocado with the stone still lodged inside, before gently pushing the back of the fruit with his fingers, causing the stone to effortlessly pop out.

After watching Nat's video, Sidney was left equally as stunned, with the next clip showing him holding up his own avocado, determined to put the kitchen hack to the test himself.

Sidney went on to reveal he had his stomach removed in 2025 following a cancer diagnosis. This forced him to overhaul his eating habits and incorporate more foods packed with heart-healthy fats, like avocados, which is how he stumbled upon the clever technique.

While explaining this, Sidney used a knife to cautiously slice the avocado in two, taking care to navigate around the stone to avoid injury. Now came the moment of truth – could he extract the stone without grabbing the blade again?

He explained that since upping his avocado intake, he'd been relying on a knife to remove the stone by gently striking it with the sharp edge before twisting the blade to prise it loose, but was intrigued to try this new method.

"Let's try this one," he announced as he picked up the avocado half containing the stone and carefully began applying pressure to the skin to dislodge it. Within seconds of pressing, the stone shot out effortlessly and dropped into the bin on the floor beneath.

"Avo pitted," he declared while staring down at the avocado in astonishment. "No scary knifes. That works. Thanks Nats."

The comments section was soon buzzing with reactions, as viewers were left astounded by how simple it seemed. One person commented: "Now thats a useful tip."

Another shared: "So you can open an avocado without a knife too. You gently squeezed it between your palm edge on your thumb side. It will slip from the stem down."

"I wish I'd see this before I spent several frustrating minutes trying to dig the pip out of an avocado with a teaspoon, this evening," a third viewer said.

However, not everyone was left impressed, with one sceptic stating: "I don't see how this is better."
