Kyle Newacheck, the director of Happy Gilmore 2, is already setting his sights on his next venture following the success of the Netflix comedy sequel.
β
Adam Sandler, the Hollywood comedian, made a much-anticipated return to one of his most cherished roles after nearly three decades for this eagerly awaited sequel.
β
The sequel, which was released at the end of July, continues to perform well as it currently sits atop Netflix's film chart in the USA, while it takes the fourth spot in the UK.
β
Just a fortnight after the release of Happy Gilmore 2, Newacheck has confirmed that he's recruited another comedy legend for his upcoming film.
He'll be directing the action-comedy film Playas Ball, starring none other than Eddie Murphy, reports the Mirror US.
β
Murphy, best known for hit comedies like Trading Places and the Beverly Hills Cop series, has just launched his crime caper with Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer, The Pickup, on Prime Video.
Last year, he reprised his role as Axel Foley in the Netflix sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and will return as Donkey in the forthcoming animated blockbuster Shrek 5.
Details about Playas Ball and Murphy's character are being kept hush-hush.
β
However, according to Deadline, the film is described as an action-comedy about the undead, marking a supernatural shift in tone from the star's previous projects.
While this marks Murphy's first collaboration with director Newacheck, Plays Ball will continue his long-standing partnership with Imagine Entertainment.
He's previously graced the silver screen in The Nutty Professor franchise, Bowfinger, Candy Cane Lane, and Tower Heist for the studio.
