Top of our list of football managers we like to imagine is our Grandpa, Claudio Ranieri first made headlines in the English game by getting Chelsea close to the title (second) and European Cup (losing semi-finalists), but not close enough. Sacked to make room for some guy called Jose Mourinho, he worked on with clubs in Italy, Spain and France before a disastrous stint as Greece manager, then joined - to widespread ridicule - a Leicester side who'd just avoided relegation and engineered an astonishing title challenge.
