Best friends Sophie Habboo and Melissa Tattam share everything on their popular podcast Wednesdays, from the latest on Sophie's pregnancy to common dilemmas and favourite new finds, and on a recent episode Sophie shared a new beauty product she's been loving: a lip plumping formula that she says makes you look like you've had lip fillers, or as she calls it, "a lip job".

Following on from sharing her nose contouring trick, Sophie brings out the Dr. Dennis Gross DermInfusions Plump + Repair Lip Treatment, a hydrating lip serum containing hyaluronic acid and peptides that's clinically proven to have users noticing instantly plumper looking lips.

While a full-size tube costs £46 (Melissa later says that she thinks the results are worth the price), you can also buy a mini 4ml version for £25 if you want to try it out for less.

Demonstrating how it works, Sophie says, "You put this bad boy on and then it's going to start tingling, and you're going to see the difference."

"It makes them look quite red but I like to then take it off," she adds. "I actually think it makes them look a bit OTT, but I think later on in the day they look good. It plumps them, it feels like they've injected water into my lips – it's really quite something."

As women shouldn't have any injectable cosmetic treatment while pregnant, this nifty lip product could be a way of getting a fuller pout without the need for needles – and Space NK shoppers agree too:

"Think this is my third purchase of this, very plumping I use it everyday and feel quite proud at 53 I have plump lips without any fillers," one customer wrote on the website. "Nice and moisturising too."

"Wowzers! This feels slightly weird after you put it on but woah does it do something to your lips!" another comment reads. "Mine changed colour to a healthy natural colour and plumped up a lot. I will see how they are tomorrow and check everything okay as I’m very sensitive but I think i would consider getting the bigger ones."

"I've been wearing this lip treatment for a couple of months now. I think it has an immediate effect on the lips: they look healthier, richer and definitely fuller when you wear it," a third review reads. "It does feel prickly (almost sting) for a couple of seconds when you first apply it so that's something to bear in mind. But the effects are worth it, I feel."

Speaking of the tingle, this is clearly something that not all users like ("This product is a lot more hot and spicy than others in this category so if you don't like the hot tingle effect this would not be for you," wrote one person), so if you have especially sensitive lips or aren't keen on this sensation, you might want to stick to a more traditional lip gloss for a temporary effect – try Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Big Lip Plumpgasm, £27, or Fenty Beauty Lip Gloss Bomb, currently £13.30.
