Rita Ora admits huge US star 'won't text her back anymore' - The Mirror

Rita Ora, who has hosted Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve for the last two years, spoke about Sabrina Carpenter on a podcast recently after she came to one of her parties

Singer-songwriter Rita Ora has spoken about her relationship with huge artist, cheekily admiting that they are now too busy to text her back. She brought up Sabrina Carpenter whilst talking about a party she once hosted.

Rita, 34, revealed that she invited Sabrina, 26, to a New Year's Eve party that she was hosting in New York once. She said that it was before the success of Sabrina's song Espresso, which topped the charts following its release in April last year, with the party understood to have been at the end of 2023.

Sabrina appeared on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2024 at the end of 2023, with the show having been co-hosted by Rita and Ryan Seacrest for the last two years. Sabrina performed a medley of her songs Feather and Nonsense, before speaking to Rita in the live broadcast.

Rita spoke about Sabrina coming to her party, which she said was held at a house with a basketball court, on the In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele podcast. She teased that Sabrina doesn't text her back anymore, before saying she was "joking".

It came after podcast host Owen Thiele shared that he had tried to get invited to the party. He said: "I heard you were having a New Year's Eve party." Rita responded: "Yeah, I do have them. Oh yeah, cause I did the [live TV] show."

Owen said: "I texted you not realising that you were hosting the f***ing ball drop. I texted you being like ... trying to be sneaky like 'wait did I just see you in New York?' Literally on New Year's Eve to try and get invited to the party."

The actor continued by telling Rita: "And you go 'babe, are you at the ball drop?'. And then I turn on the TV and I'm like 'she's hosting the f***ing ball drop?'." She added: "Yeah and also I couldn't text back because it's like live TV."

Owen continued in the episode released this month: "I was so embarrassed but then you invited me and then I came." Rita said: "And then Sabrina came. And it was like amazing."

Rita added: "This was like, I think, the peak before it was like Espresso and then everybody's like can't get hold of Sabrina anymore." Prompting laughter, she said: "But it was that time where like she would text me back."

She however added: "No, I'm joking." Sharing his thoughts on Sabrina, Owen said: "Can I tell you something? She's the busiest woman in Hollywood."

Rita replied by saying that Sabrina does text her back and that she had been "exaggerating". She said: "No, I get it. I'm busy too. No I'm so ... I'm exaggerating. She does text me back. She's so sweet."
