Disgraced former BBC News anchor Huw Edwards has been pictured holding bottles of prosecco as he's yet to pay back his BBC salary.
Edwards, 64, emerged for the first time in six months β looking very different with a new look. Edwards last year pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, and has rarely been seen in public β and was last pictured puffing on a vape in February.
Six months on, the disgraced news anchor has been pictured sporting a very different look as he emerged with miniature bottles of prosecco in his hand on his birthday earlier this week. The former BBC presenter was pictured sporting a new, short white stubbly beard and glasses with a wide black trim around as he stepped out.
Convicted sex offender Edwards wore a light blue polo shirt, a dark navy blue jacket with large pockets and button up detailing and a pair of navy trousers and a black belt.
He sported a serious expression as he was pictured grasping on to three miniature bottles of fizz as well as a baseball cap and a receipt.
The former BBC News presenter, who reported on huge stories including Queen Elizabeth's death before his fall from grace, was also seen with his wedding ring still firmly on β despite reports last year that his wife Vicky Flind had filed for divorce.
Vicky and Edwards were married for 30 years and shared five children together. It was reported in October 2024, Vicky launched proceedings to end their marriage and kicked him out of their home after Edwards put his wife "through hell".
Edwards was seen carrying the small bottles of fizz as he walked to his car in Swansea, Wales on his 64th birthday.
Earlier this week it was reported Edwards has angered staff as Edwards still hasn't paid back his Β£200,000 salary after calls for him to do so. Bosses revealed last year that they formally requested the disgraced BBC News presenter to return the wages that he received after his arrest.
After Edwards' arrest in 2023, the BBC continued to pay him until he resigned in 2024. The BBC insisted they were demanding Edwards pay back his salary for that period, but the Mirror understands that he still hasn't paid a penny.
βEveryone is raging about it β firstly at Huw, who is a disgrace, secondly that gutless bosses seem unwilling or unable to do anything about it," a source told the Sun.
In a previous statement, the BBC said: βHuw Edwards has not returned any money paid to him by the BBC after his arrest, in respect of any of his work for either BBC public service or the BBCβs commercial operations.
βThe BBC has asked for all the money paid to Huw Edwards by the BBC for the period November 2023 (arrest) and April 2024 (resignation) to be returned.β
The TV star suffered a huge fall from grace in 2023 after reports emerged that a high-profile, unnamed BBC presenter paid tens of thousands of pounds for explicit photos. A mother claimed this went on from 2020, when their child was 17, for three years, which funded their child's drug habit. He was suspended from the BBC at the time.
Edwards was later named by his wife Vicky in a statement as she said he had been "suffering from serious mental health issues" and was receiving in-patient care.
Later that year, Edwards was arrested and his phone was seized during an unrelated investigation which revealed his participation in WhatApp exchanges with Alex Williams. He later pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children and was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, with a requirement to complete a sex offender programme.
