Netflix bosses are reportedly 'concerned' over the negative reviews of Meghan Markle's new show, an insider revealed to MailOnline.

Despite Meghan's enthusiastic announcement of a second season, it doesn't necessarily mean that the Sussexes' $100million deal has been renewed.

The show, With Love, Meghan, has slipped from the top ten most-watched shows globally, as well as in the US and UK, just six days after its release. "It's not a runaway success", confessed an insider at Netflix, who also mentioned that the second season was filmed 'back-to-back' with the first one last year. On Friday, the Duchess was seen celebrating the renewal of the show for a second season, admitting to making 'mistakes' but insisting she is 'learning every day', despite her Netflix show receiving widespread criticism.

However, a Netflix insider linked to the commercial arm of the streaming giant told MailOnline that the reviews have left the bosses 'worried', particularly as Netflix is a partner in her As Ever brand.

The series, produced by Meghan, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-toโ€™s and candid conversation with friends, new and old. Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.

Meghan's father, Thomas, also gave a scathing review and expressed his disappointment over her decision to drop the Markle surname for Sussex. A new season does not necessarily mean her Netflix contract has been renewed, according to the source.

"I know they filmed the shows back-to-back so in theory there is no second season it's like with lots of Netflix shows it is already in the bag at the same time as the first one. What this does is allow edits to be made to the show from feedback from press and Netflix viewers. It's clever and cost effective. So no the overall contract hasn't been renewed yet" the source explained.

โ€Œ

The source revealed that the executives were 'concerned' about the negative feedback, particularly as they are business partners in her lifestyle brand, set to debut in their physical stores soon. .

"The industry bibles like The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are not keen on it", they disclosed. "Netflix bosses are all worried now because they have invested a lot in the product line. They don't know when and how to roll it all out". Netflix has announced plans to allocate space in two of their brand-new brick and mortar stores for this venture.

Earlier this week, Meghan introduced As ever, her lifestyle brand dedicated to beautifully crafted essentials. Developed in partnership with Netflix, the brand showcases a collection of products, personally developed by Meghan, over the past year, having been honed over years of home cooking and entertaining.

Meghan appeared on Drew Barrymoreโ€™s chat show in the US on Thursday to promote her lifestyle series and brand, and at one point during a baking segment, she was spotted moving a jar of her As Ever jam into the centre of the shot. Meghan chatted about her "funniest, sweetest, most charming" husband, the Duke of Sussex and told Barrymore their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have โ€œvery American accentsโ€ but say the word โ€œzebraโ€ with a British pronunciation.
