Christmas might have come and gone for another year, but that's no reason to switch off the festive films. Fans of the beloved 2003 classic Love Actually may be surprised to learn one of its youngest cast members is all grown up – and has tied the knot with the ex-partner of a divisive public figure.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who became a household name playing the endearingly smitten Sam in Richard Curtis's beloved romantic comedy, is now married to Talulah Riley, the actress and author who previously married Elon Musk - twice. After establishing himself as a child star, Brodie-Sangster, now 35, has built an impressive career highlighting his acting abilities.
His CV boasts a roster of hugely popular productions, including the Maze Runner film series, hit TV shows like Game of Thrones and The Queen's Gambit, and numerous others.
Recently, the Love Actually actor thrilled audiences in a Christmas advert for Google Pixel, portraying an egotistical version of himself returning to the iconic filming spots from the 2003 romantic comedy.
In the ad, he mistakenly assumes that enthusiastic Google Pixel users are captivated by his celebrity status and role in the film, rather than their new phone's capabilities.
After it appeared on social media, viewers were eager to express their appreciation. One fan commented: "I can't count how many times I have watched this lol."
Another said: "What a cute commercial! Good one!" while a third described it as "very clever" and someone else concluded: "Brilliant!"
During the production of the miniseries Pistol in 2022, which documents the story of the Sex Pistols, Thomas Brodie-Sangster met English actress and author Talulah Riley, now 40. It's believed the couple fell for one another during filming.
Talulah began her career on the small screen with roles in Agatha Christie's Poirot and Marple, before landing a leading part in E4's short-lived 2007 series, Nearly Famous. Her film credits include Pride and Prejudice, St Trinian's, The Boat That Rocked, and many others.
In 2008, she notoriously became Elon Musk's mistress. Following the billionaire Tesla Motors CEO's split from his then-wife Justine Musk, he and Talulah tied the knot twice. They first married in 2010, then divorced in 2012, before remarrying in 2013, and finally calling it quits in 2016.
On July 27, 2023, Brodie-Sangster revealed on his official Instagram that he and Talulah were engaged. He posted a photo of the pair in a gondola.
His caption read: "Happy to announce that Talulah and I are engaged. Love is all around X."
Love is All Around, the iconic 1967 track by the Troggs, is famously 'rewritten' as a festive number by Bill Nighy's character Billy Mack in Love Actually. Fans flooded the comments section with their reactions.
One follower wrote: "How did I not know that the kid from Love Actually was married to Elon Musk's ex???? Am I the only one shocked by this? CUTE COUPLE THOUGH. Wishing you love and happiness!!"
Another commented: "Fan of their relationship," while a third, only recently discovering their romance, added: "Lmao I just saw this now, love it."
Following the couple's wedding in summer 2024, many fans flocked to TikTok to post tribute videos celebrating the couple. Under one clip, a commenter wrote: "I watch Love Actually every year and still can't believe this is the little boy, all grown up, and so happily married. Happy for them!"
Under a separate TikTok video in honour of their nuptials, another fan gushed: "They look so cute together, I wish them the best," prompting the creator to respond: "[I know right]!! They look so perfect together!"
A third added: "I'm so happy for them omg I love seeing him happy."
On Reddit, one user said: "It is WILD to me that Mary Bennet and Sam from Love Actually are betrothed."
Meanwhile, another joked: "Oh my God the little boy from Love Actually is getting married I need to go back to bed and rest my infirm bones..."
