Rapper Lil Peep 's eerie Instagram post has left his heartbroken fans in pieces.

The singer, whose real name is Gustav Γ…hr, has died at the age of 21 after a suspected suicide.

But just hours before his death, he shared a photograph of himself on Instagram alongside the caption: "When I die You'll love me"

Lil Peep is topless in the snap and appears to be on stage.

The word 'Love' is tattooed across his stomach, with a sad face drawn in the O.

But it's the caption that has left fans upset.

They flooded the comments section with messages of 'RIP' and love.

"We always did," one said.

And another wrote: "the caption", along with a sad face.

"We definitely do," another wrote, alongside a broken heart.

And one said: "You didn’t have to go just for us to love you"

"Rip peep you'll live on forever, legends never die," one commented.

News of his death was announced on social media by his manager Chase Oretega.

"I've been expecting this call for a year. Mother f***," he tweeted.

Lil Peep was said to be working on new material and released his debut album Come Over When You're Sober (Part One) in August this year, featuring tracks including Awful Things, Benz Truck and The Brightside.

The Long Island rapper had been touring the record, with the last date set to end on November 16 in California.

Tragically, just one day before that, he was found dead in a suspected suicide.

On Tuesday Lil Peep performed to fans in El Paso, Texas.

Online magazine Pitchfork had hailed Lil Peep as the 'future of Emo.'

As the news of his death broke, musicians including Fallout Boy's Pete Wentz, Mashmello and Rat Boy shared tributes to the young star.

Mikey Cortex shared three photos of the rapper to his Instagram account, writing: "I’m completely heart broken and lost right now. I can’t even feel it’s not real. I love you and I’ll miss you always. One of the realest. Please someone tell me this isn’t real."

American DJ Diplo wrote: "Peep had so much more to do man he was constantly inspiring me. I don't feel good man."

Music producer Marshmello tweeted: "I can't believe this....

"Peep was the nicest person. hanging out with him, talking to him about music, the song ideas we were going to do together and touring was so amazing. Everyone will miss you man."
