The Golden Globe Awards began in January 1944 and honours the best in Hollywood's film and television - here's all you need to know for the 2019 ceremony

The Golden Globes are the first of many ceremonies to kick off the glitzy awards season that awaits us over the next month. The star-studded red carpet and moving speeches will be just what we need to help us cope with our Christmas blues as we anxiously wait for the winners to be announced.

Nominations were announced last month (Thursday, December 6) by Terry Crews, Danai Gurira, Leslie Mann, and Christian Slater at none other than the famous Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.

There are a huge 25 categories this year with five nominees each. We have all you need to know on the full list of nominations, date, who is hosting and how you can watch it.

Who is hosting?

The 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg and Killing Eve actress Sandra Oh. The pair are back after impressing at the 2018 ceremony when they mocked the high-profile Oscar mix-up over La La Land.

You can watch all the action live on NBC from 5pm - 8pm PST and 8pm - 11pm EST.

How can I watch in the UK?

Unfortunately for those living on the other side of the Pacific looking to catch all the glitz and glamour there's bad news. No UK TV channels will be broadcasting the ceremony.
