It was meant to be a union of sporting royalty and culinary celebrity, but as Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty prepares to marry Holly Ramsay next month, it's all been kicking off behind the scenes.

While the Ramsays prepare for a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey, the Peaty clan back in Staffordshire has been left shattered, snubbed, and allegedly "blacklisted" from the event after a series of falling outs.

The feud first became public knowledge when Holly posted pictures from her exclusive hen do at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds with one notable absentee - Adam's mum Caroline. It quickly emerged that all was not well between teams Peaty and Ramsay, with sources claiming Caroline had been disinvited because she was a normal working class mum who didn't fit the glamorous mould. However, the truth has turned out to be far more complicated.

Taking to Instagram, Adam made it clear that battle lines had been drawn. He wrote: "Over the past few days, a lot has been reported and comments posted about the private life of Holly and myself. My sister Bethany has also been targeted. This has been almost entirely one-sided and, in many cases, excessive and intrusive.

"It has been hurtful and upsetting to read, especially given the false basis upon which we have been targeted. What makes it worse is that it has been encouraged by members of my family. Bethany, Holly and I cannot go into details, given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events."

Mum Caroline Peaty

Adam's mother Caroline Peaty, 59, has openly spoken about being disinvited from the wedding. The nursery manager who used to wake up at 4am to drive Adam to training will not watch her son marry his fiance next month.

Caroline alleged that the relationship began to deteriorate at the engagement party when her extended family weren't invited. She said she had sent a polite message to Holly about it.

"But Adam didn't take kindly to me sending that message," she revealed. Caroline also claimed that Adam was unyielding and "nor will Holly". She added that he "rarely says sorry" and "has a very black and white view".

She said further grief came when Adam told her she would need four dresses for the wedding, and she wanted to wear her favourite cream one - something that Adam explained was not the done thing.

However, Caroline has stated that she would attend the wedding if she received an invitation. But sharing her theory about why the rift continues, she claimed: "He's in Gordon's clutches. I can't help but feel like they are pulling him away from me. Their family is very insular.

"The message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.

"There's nothing you've done that I would not forgive. I love you so much. I hope your marriage is a good one, I don't wish any ill on you and I want you and Holly to have a long and happy marriage. The reason I'm speaking out is I want all this to end."

The rift reportedly deepened after a planned family shopping trip to Bath - paid for by Adam - was cancelled due to train disruptions. Sources claim Adam "went mad," accusing his parents of "wasting his money".

Taking to Instagram, she posted a cryptic message: "The ones I love are the people that hurt me the most." She later told the Daily Mail she felt "broken" and that she knew her relationship with her son was "at the end," blaming the "insular" Ramsay family for pulling him away.

Sister Bethany Peaty

Bethany is reportedly the only sibling still on the guest list, but her inclusion comes with its own scandal. She is set to attend with her fiance, Dan Rogerson, a man with a serious criminal past.

Rogerson, 37, was jailed in 2017 for possession of cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply. He was present and correct for Adam's stag trip, alongside Gordon Ramsay. A family insider told The Sun: "Adam and Holly know all about Dan's past. He used to be a nasty piece of work but hopefully time has helped him change.

"He went on the stag-do. Adam's dad Mark was invited too but decided not to go and during that weekend he and Caroline were looking after their grandson. Bethany's had her head turned by her brother's celebrity world, and she and Dan enjoy all the glitz and glamour. Adam is forgiving of them, but he isn't forgiving of his own decent, law-abiding mum."

The couple have two children and live in Derby, half an hour away from Adam and Holly's home in Kegworth, Leicestershire.

His invitation has reportedly caused further friction, with Caroline reportedly posting a cryptic quote about family. "I don't remember every gift I opened when I was 5, 6, or even 10. I remember the smell of the kitchen, the glow of the lights, the way love felt louder in December. It wasn't the presents it was the presence of my parents who did everything they could to make the magic happen."

Brothers James and Richard

The bad blood with Adam's brothers, James, 34, and Richard, 30, goes back years, cemented in print by Adam himself.

In his 2021 autobiography The Gladiator Mindset, Adam didn't hold back. He described his brothers in unflattering terms, detailing James's alleged previous struggles with "demons" and drug use.

James was reportedly "fuming" at the portrayal, feeling betrayed by his famous brother. Though they briefly reconciled - James was even doing building work for Adam earlier this year - before the relationship collapsed again.

The feud hit rock bottom this month when James was arrested on suspicion of harassment after allegedly sending threatening messages to Adam during his stag do. He has since been bailed.

Mark, 65, was once a fixture in the stands, cheering his son on to Olympic glory. Now, he finds himself on the outside looking in. Despite Gordon Ramsay attending Adam's stag do in Budapest, Mark was nowhere to be seen. Reports suggest that Mark was invited to the stag do but has since been "blacklisted" from the main event.

He recently broke his silence after his son James was arrested, lamenting that the situation had "got out of hand." "They're brothers, they've always been close," Mark told The Sun. "But there's been very little empathy towards Jamie's genuine mental health difficulties."

Aunt Louise Williams

Adding fuel to the fire is Adam’s aunt, Louise Williams. Never one to bite her tongue, Louise has become the family's attack dog on social media. After Caroline was snubbed from the hen do, Louise unleashed a public tirade against Holly Ramsay, branding her "divisive and hurtful."

Commenting on Holly's Instagram post, she wrote: "@hollyramsayy I'm so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman who I have loved and continue to love deeply. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever."

She also accused the couple of "body shaming" Caroline over a dress code dispute.
