Alejandro Garnacho has provided the perfect response to being snubbed from the latest Argentina squad and any concerns over his behaviour. The 21-year-old last played for his country in November 2024 with his final six or so months at Manchester United also proving to be difficult.

After being dropped by Ruben Amorim against Manchester City in December, Garnacho struggled for regular appearances in the starting XI. He was omitted from the squad for their final day clash against Aston Villa - four days on from defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final - after being told by Amorim he was free to depart.

Links to Chelsea had been present since January with the winger going on to make the move from Old Trafford to Stamford Bridge in late August for £40million. His arrival in west London was met with minimal optimism and some concern given his previous attitude problems.

Former Argentina international Oscar Ruggeri has stated that is why he has not played for the national team in over a year in what was a brutal verdict of Garnacho.

"He's no better than anyone else, you're a football player, enjoy it, but you shouldn't be so full of yourself," he told ESPN.

"It's pointless because you miss out on so much. Someone has to bring him down to earth. They're not calling him up to the national team. If he comes back down to earth like he was, they'll call him up again because he's phenomenal on the pitch."

It does not appear as though that has been a problem at Chelsea however, with a report from Give Me Sport revealing that Garnacho's 'attitude and intensity' in training at Cobham has impressed staff members.

They have also claimed that Garnacho has been putting in extra work to improve his overall game in the final third. That has certainly been on show in Chelsea's last two games with Garnacho grabbing a goal and two assists.

During the Champions League clash away to Qarabag, he scored just eight minutes after coming on with a smart left-footed finish to equalise.

Three days later, Garnacho grabbed two assists in the comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League this past weekend. He crossed excellently for Malo Gusto to head home the opener before sprinting past Santiago Bueno and leaving Pedro Neto with the simplest of finishes with a superbly-weighted cross.

Such a big impact likely came just too late for him to be considered by Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni for the upcoming matches, even with club teammate Enzo Fernandez and Real Madrid's Franco Mastantuono absent because of injuries.

However, if he continues putting in these performances, it seems very likely he will be back in the frame and competing for a spot at the World Cup.
