Angela Scanlon has said that she’s ready to ‘make sense of the madness’ as she provided her fans with a major career update.
Rising to fame on Irish TV through her talk show Ask Me Anything, Angela competed on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2023. Paired with Carlos Gu, Angela finished in sixth place in the BBC One dance series which was won by Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola.
The 42-year-old presenter is also known for presenting the Get A Grip podcast with Vicky Pattison, who was also seen competing on Strictly last year. However, Anegela’s next project may be her biggest to date in the UK.
Just months after taking part in the two-part Celebrity Apprentice Christmas special, where she was paired with JB Gill, Matt Morsia, Sarah Hadland, Shazia Mirza and Thomas Skinner, Angela is now associated with the main series.
It was revealed on Wednesday afternoon (January 14) that Angela is the face of the brand-new Apprentice spin off series, titled The Apprentice: You’re Fired. Angela’s arrival comes at the expense of comedian Tom Allen’s exit from The Apprentice: You’re Fired.
Airing directly after the 20th series of The Apprentice gets underway on Thursday, January 29, the spin-off will see Angela speaking about the series with a host of industry experts and celebrity fans. Additionally, Angela will be joined by the fired candidate to dissect all the drama from inside Lord Alan Sugar’s boardroom.
Sharing her delight at the news, Angela said: “Having recently gone toe-to-toe with Lord Sugar in the boardroom, I have never understood or loved this iconic show more! To be part of The Apprentice as it heads into its 20th year is an absolute treat.
“I can't wait to get suited and booted and sit down with candidates and celeb fans each week to unpack the drama, make sense of the madness and hopefully walk away with some business advice while I’m at it!"
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC, added: “With self-confessed Apprentice superfan Angela Scanlon at the helm, The Apprentice: Unfinished Business promises more in-depth analysis than ever.
“There will be fresh insight into the weekly tasks, business tips and hints, brilliant special guests and candid chat with the fired candidates for audiences to look forward to throughout the series available on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer plus for the first time ever via BBC Sounds.”
While Paul Broadbent, Director of Programmes at Naked (a Fremantle label), stated: “As we approach the milestone series 20 of The Apprentice, the show continues to go from strength to strength.
“We’re reinventing our companion show for our loyal audience to analyse each episode, through fun and engaging content, that can not only be watched but also listened to. We’re thrilled to have former celebrity candidate Angela Scanlon lead the conversation and invite the fans to join in on the chat."
Meanwhile, Tom announced that he’s no longer working on The Apprentice just hours before the new series was revealed. Tom had been working on The Apprentice: You’re Fired since 2019.
The Cooking with the Stars presenter said on Instagram: “I have decided, after six years, to say goodbye to The Apprentice: You’re Fired. I have had so much fun working with the most incredible creative people to make it all happen. I was also getting concerned Lord Sugar might realise I know nothing about business - as above video demonstrates.
“Thank you @lord_sugar @karren_brady_official @timcampbell_mbe for all their support and encouragement at every step and also thank you to each @apprenticeuk candidate and guest panelist who joined me in the studio.”
