Stranger Things fans are preparing to say goodbye to the hit show that has kept them entertained since 2016 as the final chapter of the fiction series comes to a close.

Actor Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas Sinclair on the Netflix sci-fi series by Matt and Ross Duffer has recalled the moment he wrapped filming the series as he admitted it was the “best day”.

The actor appeared on BBC The One Show on Monday (November 10) night, alongside co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp and Gaten Matarazzo as he opened up about the final season to hosts Alex Jones & Angelica Bell.

Alex went straight in and said: “You’ve been together for ages, you’ve grown up together and the chemistry between you is so brilliant."

The TV host then asked: “What was it like to film that last moment before they shouted 'that's a wrap?'"

Caleb admitted: “It was really emotional honestly. I reference a 90s anime flashback, I felt like I was reminiscing on my future, my present and the past."

He added: “I’ve been on the show almost half my life, I mean all of us have. It’s been 10 years, it's wild. It’s something so deep that I can’t truly understand yet because my frontal lode is still closing but it was an emotional day but one of my best days.”

When asked if he managed to take some things from set, the actor revealed: “With permission, my bandanna, a wright locket and some clothes from each season.”

Following the dramatic end to season 4, the trailer for season 5 was released last month and it shows everyone's favourite Indiana kids preparing for one last battle against Vecna.

The footage reveals where Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) has been hiding as it opens with the supervillain emerging from the darkness in the Upside Down version of Hawkins' town hall, and saying: "We can begin."

It then cuts to the people of Hawkins, who are “stuck” in their town thanks to the military as they try to contain the horror that Vecna unleashed at the end of season 4.

The stakes get higher as Finn Wolfhard's Mike Wheeler and his pals plan one last stand against Vecna to “end this once and for all”.

The trailer also shows Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) harnessing her powers to fly through the air, while Max (Sadie Sink) is also shown being rescued from the hospital by Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), who is then pursued by a demodog.

In the final moments of the trailer, an epic showdown is teased, as Vecna levitates Will towards him, and says: "You are going to help me...one...last...time."

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer
