Barbour's heritage jackets are always a favourite choice when it comes to winter styling, but they seem to be more popular than ever this season. Loved from Kate Middleton to Alexa Chung, these types of jackets are loved for their combination of timeless style and practicality, making them ideal for layering in transitional weather.

Whilst they'll last a lifetime with proper care, they're certainly not cheap. At ASOS, the brand's Aberford Wax Jacket in olive and ancient tartan costs a cool £329.

Luckily, I've found a similar version at Roman that has the look of the designer option but costs £230 less. On sale for £99 instead of £120, the Khaki Waxed Longline Hooded Coat takes inspiration from the high-end piece whilst putting its on unique spin on the classic style.

The waxed jacket has a slightly longer length that the Barbour option and features an adjustable waist and hood. It has long sleeves to keep the rain out, alongside a zipper with popper detailing and pockets too.

The Khaki Waxed Longline Hooded Coat comes in sizes ten to 20, all of which are still in stock online. It is also available in chocolate and navy, ensuring there's an option to suit almost everyone's colour palettes.

Despites its instantly recognisable silhouette, the coat is surprisingly versatile. It can be styed with jeans and a jumper for a casual look or with chinos and a blouse for a smart-casual outfit that's ideal for wearing on the commute to the office.

At Tesco, the F&F Shower Resistant Waxed Collared Longline Coat in brown comes in at £69.50. Featuring a corduroy collar for a timeless feel., the longline waxed coat is complete with a detachable hood and storm cuffs.

Back at Roman, the Khaki Waxed Longline Hooded Coat boasts an overall star-rating of 4.8 out of five based on more than 80 reviews. One satisfied shopper said: "Great coat. Waterproof, good length on me and I love the colour."
