Latest news and updates about Richard Hughes who was appointed as Liverpool sporting director in March 2024, after leaving the same role at Bournemouth. The former Portsmouth captain was brought to Anfield by Michael Edwards, who returned to Liverpool a week previously as Fenway Sports Group's CEO of Football. Edwards and Hughes had previously worked closely together at Portsmouth and the latter impressed during his spell at Bournemouth with key contacts in Spain and Italy. He will now take charge of Liverpool transfers and contract renewals, as well as lead the search for a new manager to replace Jurgen Klopp.
