A Leicester restaurant is offering three cuisines as part of its new and “fresh” vision.
Golden Sands closed its doors several months ago to undergo a full refurbishment. The restaurant, in the city’s London Road, is now welcoming diners once again and delivering various Indian, Goan and Portuguese dishes.
Its menu focuses on bringing together “familiar” and “distinctive” flavours all under one roof. Customers can order a range of starters and small plates; including Chicken Lollipops, Recheado Prawns and Chilli Mushrooms.
The restaurant has several signature dishes, including a Lobster Biryani, as well as Goan specials like Golden Fry Squid, Chicken Xacuti Curry and a Goan Portuguese pudding called Caramel Flan. Golden Sands also serves a range of Indian curries as well as other desserts, and even lighter bites including paninis and wraps.
Guests can also browse a varied drinks menu with wines, beers, spirits and signature cocktails including the Coconut Mojito and Tamarind Margarita available to order. A range of soft drinks and hot drinks are also served.
The owner, Samson Vas, who also runs the Heritage Cafe in Leicester’s Carts Lane, said: “After being closed for several months for a full refurbishment, we’ve reopened with a fresh vision that brings together the coastal flavours of Goa, the influence of Portuguese cuisine, and the depth and comfort of Indian cooking - all under one roof.
“What we hope to bring to Leicester is something a little different - a warm, relaxed dining experience that feels welcoming and celebratory, whether it’s for families, friends, or special occasions.
“Golden Sands is about sharing food, hospitality, and culture, and creating a space where people can enjoy good food in an elegant but approachable setting. Our menu focuses on dishes that are both familiar and distinctive.
“Guests can expect seafood-led specials inspired by Goa’s coastline, tandoori and charcoal-grilled dishes, classic Indian favourites with a refined touch, and a curated cocktail list designed to complement the food.”
Golden Sands is open from 4pm until 10pm, Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, it operates from 4pm to 10.30pm. More information can be found on its website.
