The former Manchester United midfielder said Carrick's wife had a "big mouth" and could do his team talks for him.

Roy Keane has taken a bizarre swipe at Michael Carrick's wife, reigniting a feud that began over a decade ago.
β
Appearing on Stick to football this week, Keane was critical of Carrick's appointment to the role of interim Manchester United manager, and wondered whether it was wise for United to keep going back to former players whenever they find themselves short of a manager.
β
Reflecting on his time as Sunderland boss, Keane spoke about how he didn't deliver any grandstand speeches to the players in his first couple of days at the club. The Irishman expects Carrick to go down a different route and lay out his plans to the players, and while criticising the man who took his number 16 shirt at United, Keane took a strange pop at Carrick's wife Lisa.
β
"His wife can always come in, cause sheβs got a bit of a big mouth sometimes. She's probably doing the team talk," said Keane on the show.
The issue between Keane and Lisa seems to stem from a tweet written by Lisa back in 2014 in response to Keane's criticism of her husband.
β
After a Champions League loss to Olympiacos in 2014, Carrick conducted a post-match interview for TV. Keane, who was working as a pundit on the game, said that Carrick's interview was "flat" just like the performance had been.
That evening, Lisa Tweeted "Roy Keane what a ****, says anything to get a reaction. That's all... done." Later, Lisa deleted the post saying "Deleted my tweet... Emotions got the better of me."
β
Keane and Carrick are two of the most important players in Manchester United's history. Keane was the captain throughout the 90's and the early noughties and played at the base of midfield, while Carrick arrived just six months after Keane's acrimonious departure and again, played in midfield for over a decade wearing the number 16 shirt.
Both men achieved enormous success at Manchester United, winning multiple Premier League titles, the FA Cup, League Cup and the Champions League.
β
As for who Keane would like to see eventually succeed Ruben AmorΓm as the next permanent Manchester United manager, one name sticks out above others, and that is Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.
"I like what he's done, he's managed a lot of games, when his teams are it they play good football.
"I know he has his critics, but I like what he's done at Newcastle, even at Bournemouth. He's managed 700, 800 games. I like his calmness - I think Man Utd sometimes need a bit of that.
"I like people with emotion, I'm quite an emotional person, but his calmness, what he's done at Newcastle. Getting them into the Champions League, winning a Cup. I'd be happy to see him go in there."
