Gardaí attached to the Serious Crime Functional area, Donegal Garda Division arrested a man aged in his 30s on Friday

A man arrested as part of a Garda probe into dissident republican activity has been released without charge, and a file will now be prepared for the DPP.
As part of an investigation into dissident republican activity, Gardaí attached to the Serious Crime Functional area, Donegal Garda Division arrested a male aged in his 30s on Friday.
The male was arrested for alleged membership of an unlawful organisation and is currently detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939. The investigation was being supported by the Special Detective Unit.
On Saturday Gardaí confirmed that the arrested man has been released without charge, and that a file will now be prepared for the DPP. A Garda spokesperson said that investigations are ongoing
The spokesperson added: “The man arrested by Gardaí attached to the Donegal Garda Division as part of an investigation into dissident republican activity, has been released from custody without charge. A file will be prepared for the DPP. Investigations are ongoing.”
