Learner driver due in court after Gardaí catch them on cocktail of drugs - Irish Mirror

The unaccompanied learner driver was found to be under the influence of cocaine, cannabis and benzodiazepines

A motorist who is still on their learner permit is due in court after they were caught by Gardaí driving under the influence of a cocktail of drugs.

Officers attached to Dún Laoghaire Garda Station were on patrol on Saturday when they spotted an unaccompanied learner driver.

After stopping them and administering a roadside drug test, the motorist was found to have tested positive for cocaine, cannabis and benzodiazepines.

Gardaí confirmed that the vehicle was seized and the driver was arrested and is now facing a court date.

A Garda spokesperson wrote: “Gardaí from Dún Laoghaire Garda Station were on patrol and stopped this unaccompanied learner driver who subsequently failed a roadside drug test after testing positive for cocaine, cannabis and benzodiazepines.

"The driver was arrested and now faces court. Vehicle seized”.
