County Mayo, Mhaigh Eo in Irish, meaning 'plain of the yew trees', has a population of more than 130,000. The main towns are Castlebar and Ballina and Ireland's largest island, Achill Island, lies off the county's west coast. Taoiseach Enda Kenny is a native of Castlebar.
