Gloucester Rugby have announced the signing of experienced Rugby World Cup-winning lock Jean Kleyn from Munster ahead of the 2026/27 season.
โ
A powerful and uncompromising presence in the engine room, Kleyn brings a wealth of experience at the highest level of the game, representing both Ireland (residency) and South Africa (birth) at international level, winning the 2023 Rugby World Cup with the latter.
โ
Renowned for his physicality, work rate, and leadership, the 6โ8โโ 32-year-old adds significant quality and depth to Gloucesterโs forward pack, with current lock Cam Jordan expected to move on in the summer to join Newcastle Red Bulls.
โ
Cherry and Whites director of rugby, George Skivington, said: โJean is a player Iโve admired for a long time. He brings real edge, experience, and a winning mentality, which will be invaluable for our group.
โ
โHis physical presence and professionalism will raise standards across the squad, and weโre excited to welcome him to Kingsholm.โ
Speaking on the move, Kleyn added: โIโm thrilled to be joining Gloucester Rugby next season. Itโs a club with incredible history and a passionate fan base, and the vision shared with me really matched what I was looking for in the next chapter of my career.
โI canโt wait to get started, meet the supporters, and give everything I have for this team.โ
Kleyn will link up with the squad in the summer, where he will join fellow new signings Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake, and scrum-half Dan Robson.
