Cheltenham Town were beaten 2-0 by Championship side Leicester City in front of the biggest Whaddon Road crowd for 13 years.
Patson Daka and Stephy Mavididi scored the goals in the first half, with the Robins' main threat Jordan Thomas twice denied by Asmir Begovic.
Mavididi, who set up Daka for the opener, was the standout player for 2021 winners Leicester, who safely progress to round four of this year's competition.
Cheltenham net £26,500 as a third round losing team, while Leicester take £121,500 in prize money.
Steve Cotterill's Robins travel to Oldham Athletic in League Two next weekend.
