Glasgow emergency crews responded to an incident on Kelvinbridge in the west end this afternoon (January 15), as locals report seeing a police helicopter in the area and rescue boats by the river. An area of the bridge near the Inn Deep pub was reportedly cordoned off by police at around 4pm.
The exact nature of the incident is unknown, but one local told Glasgow Live they saw two rescue boats, a fire appliance, two police vans and an ambulance on the bridge over the Kelvin.
Other residents reported that the side of the bridge where the entrance to Kelvinbridge subway is located was taped off at Inn Deep.
Pictures of the scene shared with Glasgow Live show a fire service team readying a rescue boat, and police officers can be seen in the area.
Flashing lights can be seen in the photos as emergency vehicles line up Great Western Road.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that it tended to the scene, but on arrival the emergency was passed over to Police Scotland.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment, and Glasgow Live will issue updates on this story as we get them.
