Former British tennis star Laura Robson broke a rule live on TV during the US Open men's final as she highlighted the poor reception Donald Trump received.

British tennis hero Laura Robson failed to abide by a broadcasting rule at the US Open final. The United States Tennis Association asked media not to mention any negative disruption surrounding Donald Trump's attendance.
In a thrilling US Open men's singles final, Carlos Alcaraz bested adversary Jannik Sinner in four sets to regain the title of world No. 1 and add a sixth Grand Slam to his collection at the age of 22. However, while the match itself was captivating, it was slightly overshadowed by the US President. Trump became the first serving president to attend the showpiece in 25 years, and caused quite the commotion with his entrance, which meant thousands had to undergo extra security checks and the match was delayed by 30 minutes. How Trump was received by fans in attendance was reportedly meant to be kept hush, but Robson, on punditry duty for Sky Sports, failed to comply.

Before the final, reports circulated that the USTA had sent a directive to any media personnel present at Arthur Ashe Stadium regarding Trump. It read: "We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showing any disruptions or reactions in response to the president's attendance in any capacity."
However, Robson evidently did not take this request into account. When Trump was first shown on the big screen during the national anthem, the crowd was split in how they reacted.
But when he was shown on screen after the first set, a wave of boos notably echoed around the arena. Although the USTA had asked the media not to report on such a disruption, Robson failed to abide by this rule and stated: "They've just shown Trump on the big screen, lots of boos."
She wasn't the only one to take aim at Trump's presence, either. Tennis icon Martina Navratilova was also reporting for Sky, and with the start of the clash delayed by the president's arrival and many missing some of the action thanks to added measures, she issued a scathing comment.

"For the final to be postponed because of this is absolutely insane," stated Navratilova. "People have paid thousands of dollars for these tickets. It was half empty at the start. Normally, this place would be rocking."
This commotion did not spoil the match, as Alcaraz overcame Sinner again. The pair have contested three Grand Slam finals this year, and with victory at Flushing Meadows, Alcaraz is again back on top of the ATP rankings.

"For me, achieving that (becoming world No. 1) once again, it is a dream. Doing [it] on the same day as getting another Grand Slam feels even better. It's everything I'm working for, and I'm really happy to be able to live these experiences," he said.
"I feel like this is the best tournament. Since the first rounds to the end of the tournament, the best tournament so far that I have ever played. The consistency of my level during the whole tournament has been really, really high, which I'm really proud of, because it's something that I've been working on, to be really consistent."
