Parents and grandparents have been urged to keep a toy out of the reach of children as it presents a serious choking hazard. Orchard Toys is pulling from the shelves a batch of its Jungle Heads & Tails product as it presents a "serious risk of choking" for small children.
The urgent product recall, issued on December 23 just as many Brits were ending their Christmas shopping, may affects Sainsbury's and Argos customers, as the retailers had the toys on their shelves. The recall, shared by the Office for Product Safety & Standards, read: "The product presents a serious risk of choking as the elephant has a cardboard disc which should have been removed from the nose as part of the manufacturing process.
"This disc is a small part. Small parts pose a choking hazard to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths."
The product, the note added, "does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011."
The product, described as a set of 24 cards and an elephant playing piece, should be kept "out of reach of small children", and consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately, the Product Safety and Standards Office said.

Only the products with the batch code SP/001639/058/17.03.25 and product reference 058 are affected by the recall. Orchard Toys said no injuries have been reported in connection with the issue.

Customers who bought the toys affected by the recall are urged to notify Orchard Toys to either get a voucher or credit refund.
The company added: "If you have an affected product (as per the batch code above) please remove the box flap displaying the batch code, and dispose of the game."
