A man has been jailed after shooting at a house in Rotherham.
At 6.18pm on November 25, 2024, South Yorkshire Police were called after a gun was fired at an address on Dawson Avenue in Rawmarsh, Rotherham. Armed officers at the scene found evidence of a gunshot, but thankfully no one had been injured.
South Yorkshire Police spoke to witnesses, and identified a linked incident at the same address in which a man threatened the home owner, saying he would "shoot the lot of you".
Craig Berridge, 46, was identified as a suspect, and just two hours after the shooting he was arrested.
CCTV footage showed a man matching the clothing Berridge was arrested in aiming and firing a shotgun at the property. More footage showed the earlier incident in which Berridge was clearly shown making threats.
Of Grange Road, Rawmarsh, Berridge was charged with possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possessing a knife in a public place, and affray. He pleaded guilty to all charges at Sheffield Crown Court.
On Wednesday, January 14, he was jailed for six years with an extended licence of four years.
Detective Inspector Claire Moss said: "Craig Berridge is a dangerous man. He took a firearm and with no thought for anyone else's safety discharged it at a property before casually walking away like nothing had happened.
