A Heybridge man has appeared in court after being charged with owning a dog that was dangerously out of control. The man has denied the charges after events over the Christmas period. Daniel Wood, 45, of Heymeads Court, Romanhurst, is charged with two counts of being the owner or person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control. The incidents from Christmas Day 2025 in Heybridge and on New Year’s Eve in Fullbridge are denied by Wood.

Wood is also accused of failing to comply with a community protection notice on three separate occasions. The notice stated his dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier, should be muzzled when outside his home.

Wood appeared before Chelmsford magistrates on January 14 and denied all the offences. He is next due to appear in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court for trial on February 15 2027.
