Loanhead Post Office will be opening their doors on Christmas to help 'struggling locals.'
Adil Bashir, 46, post master, and business partner Asif Bashir, 45, said this will be the first time they have opened on Christmas Day in 25 years.
They made the decision after becoming aware that many in their community were struggling with loneliness. Asif said they did not want anyone to be on their own in the community.
The pair will put on a mini spread for anyone looking to pop in for a chat and a bit of banter on December 25. The Post Office is located on 8 The Loan, Loanhead.
"The idea came from knowing who is alone around the area, as we have been here for over 35 years, so they aren't just customers, they are good friends as well," Asif said. "It's not about business all the time, it is also about being human and caring.

"We do a lot with charities throughout the year including the Well Foundation supporting water wells across the world and with World Care Foundation supporting orphans and widows. Doing chairty work makes you realise how important it is to help everyone and that Includes people in your own local area.
"We don't celebrate Christmas as we have our own celebrations throughout the year like with Eid. But for us supporting the local community is very important.
"Community brings people together. We can all be part of each other goals and achievements in the local area.
"We have never opened on Christmas Day in the 25 years we have owned the business. But this year there are a lot of people who are struggling.
