Enoch Burke has made a return to Wilson's Hospital School today, less than 24 hours after his release from Mountjoy Prison - an institution he referred to as 'a morbid regime'.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror at the school this morning, Burke likened his post-prison appearance there to a 'carnival'.

He expressed that his ongoing ordeal was 'an insult to the institutions of the State'. Concurrently, gardaΓ patrolled the area and protestors voiced their concerns through megaphones as parents and children arrived and departed.

On Wednesday, a High Court judge ordered his release to allow him to prepare for a case against an appeals body set to review his dismissal from the Westmeath school.

Addressing journalists, supporters and protesters gathered outside the school on Thursday, Mr Burke stated: "I'm coming here to do a day's work, that's what I've always done. I should never have been in prison in the first place, this is my work place, this is where I teach."

Mr Burke has been incarcerated since late November for violating a court order prohibiting him from trespassing at Wilson's Hospital School in Co Westmeath, where he was employed as a teacher.

Last week, he requested a temporary injunction against a disciplinary appeals body assigned to review his dismissal from the school.
