Oscar Fraulo cannot wait to launch his Derby County career and says he sees himself "fitting into the club's project" after becoming their second signing of the January transfer window.
β
The midfielder's arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach was confirmed by Derby this morning, with the Danish midfielder putting pen to paper on a contract until the summer of 2029.
β
Derby have paid an undisclosed fee for the 22-year-old, who has Champions League, Bundesliga and Eredivisie experience and in the summer of 2024 attracted interest from the Premier League.
β
But their persistence has paid off and Fraulo said his conversations with the club ensured he knew a move to the Championship and Pride Park was the best move for his ambitions.
"I've known about Derbyβs interest in me for some time, but I had some good talks with the club in the last month," he told the club's website.
β
"I'm already 100 per cent sure that I want to play here, and I can see myself fitting into the clubβs project. I'm really happy to be here.
"It's a club with ambitions, and I also have big ambitions.
"I know the club wants to produce good players, so this is perfect timing, and I think I can achieve good things with Derby."
β
Fraulo is expected to be given time to settle before he is available for first-team selection, having played just 40 minutes of football this season.
But during that time, he did score for Monchengladbach in a 4-0 win over St Pauli in the Bundesliga.
He is described as a traditional number eight and during his time on loan at Utrecht, he registered assists and goals.
β
"I'm a really dynamic, box-to-box player," he continued.
"I can run a lot and I can play in many different positions across the midfield. My strength is that I have a lot of power and intensity.
"I'm ready. I've had all my checks and everything looks fine. If I could choose, I would play from day one, but I know it takes some time. I'm ready to bring something to the team when I step onto the pitch."
Fraulo has already met Derby head coach John Eustace who has guided the Rams to mid-table in the Championship helped by a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough yesterday, a game that the midfielder attended.
Fraulo added: "He was very positive when he spoke about the team. It's a really good group of players and I know he also has big ambitions for this club. I like the way the team play and it's perfect for me to be a part of it."
