Derbyshire police have issued a statement after a teenager was stabbed and a young man suffered a slash wound following an incident in a cul-de-sac.

Officers were called to reports that two people armed with a knife had entered a house in Muskham Avenue in Cotmanhay, near Ilkeston, on Tuesday evening (January 13).

Officers attended the scene and found a teenage boy had suffered a stab injury. He was taken to hospital, and it is understood he will make a full physical recovery.

A second man in his 20s suffered a minor slash wound from a knife on his hand. He is also expected to make a full physical recovery.

The two suspects reportedly left the scene in a vehicle that was spotted later in Ilkeston and failed to stop.

After a pursuit, two people abandoned the car in Pit Lane, Shipley, before officers say they ran off.

One was detained quickly while the other ran into Shipley Park and, after being tracked by both a police plane and police dogs, was also detained.

Two teenage boys aged 17 and 19 have since been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and remain in police custody.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire police has said: "We were called to reports that two people had entered a house in Muskham Avenue, Cotmanhay and were armed with a knife.
