Southcraig School in Ayr has received a positive report from Education Scotland, following an inspection in 2025.
The inspection praised the headteacher, senior leaders and staff for their commitment and success in embedding the school values which include happiness, respect, independence, inclusion and communication.
The inspectors found that in doing this, the school nurtured ‘warm and caring relationships.’
The report also highlighted that children and young people at the school are proud of their extensive and varied range of achievements and are supported in developing their ‘confidence, independence, and communication skills.’
Staff were also commended for the high level of sensitive and compassionate support they provide to the school’s children and young people.
It was also noted that staff are dedicated to upholding children’s rights, are highly attuned to the needs of the learners, and are strongly committed to promoting equality and celebrating diversity.
Jane Gordon, Head Teacher at Southcraig School said: “Fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for our children and young people is at the heart of everything we do, and I’m delighted that the efforts of our dedicated staff have been recognised in this report.
“I would like to say a huge well done and thank you to the fantastic team at Southcraig School, to our pupils for their excellent achievements, and to our families for their ongoing support.”
